In the last little while there have been several
fires: apartment building, vehicles, house fire. Today, I drove
by a fire in an industrial area where a shop and some heavy
equipment were lost. A full-size industrial shop literally melted
down 'till all that was standing was not much bigger than a
prairie outhouse.
None of these fires are connected, but it brought
to the front of my mind a couple of things; what really lasts?
In the one photo, two RCMP officers are checking
over the origins of a fire that ruined a heavy loader. This
powerful piece of equipment was ruined by fire
Our earthly retirements can be lost with a change in the stock
market. Our homes can be broken into and our valuables stolen
or destroyed. What we often value as an asset, or even a keepsake,
is not what God sees as an asset. HE looks at the heart.
There is nothing here on this earth that we can carry over
into eternity; no silver or gold, no small heirloom. BUT, the
Bible lets us know there is a way we can send something ahead.
| Mat 6:19-21 :19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures
on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves
break in and steal. :20 But store up for yourselves treasures
in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where
thieves do not break in and steal. :21 For where your treasure
is, there your heart will be also. |
